On the hill of Sant Salvador, a Sanctuary and wall fortress, rises high and monumental and it is one of the most symbolic places to visit on the north east of the island. Even from a distance you can see the 16-meter high stone cross on the mountain.
The monastery was founded in 1342 Santuari de Sant Salvador and it is located in 509 meters above sea level on the mountain Puig de Sant. San Salvador is situated between Porto Colom and Felanitx and its location has meant that it was a strategic place along different historical periods.
After driving on a long and winding road you reach the top which gives an amazing all-round view. The views sweep over the rooftops of town and beyond to the peaks of the Serra de Llevant. The road up the top offers many beautiful viewpoints and it leads past a small chapel up to the large stone cross.
